CURITIBA'S BRT SYSTEM REVIVED WITH NEW VOLVO'S Curitiba in Brazil start in the 1970's with a BRT system, Bus Rapid Transit. Ever since it has been an example for other cities of how to develop such a system. Partner from the first moments was Volvo, delivering the buses. Currently, Curitiba’s mass transit system carries 1.23 million passengers on more than 14,100 trips a day. Operating along 254 routes, the city’s 1250 buses cover around 273,000 kilometres. And now Volvo has delivered this year 40 new buses to Curitibia's BRT system.

BYD TO BUILD ITS FIRST SKYRAIL IN LATIN AMERICA In the Brazilian city Salvador BYD is to build its first SkyRail overseas. The Skyrail will run along the seaside. After completion, Salvador's SkyRail (yellow) line will connect with other rail transit lines to form a rail network. The entire project’s construction is expected to kick-off officially at the beginning of 2020.

DAIMLER BUSES RECEIVES AN ORDER FOR 147 CITY BUSES IN URUGUAY Daimler Buses has received a major order for 147 city buses in Uruguay. The customer is public transport company C.U.T.C.S.A. (Compañía Uruguaya de Transporte Colectivo S.A.) which serves the capital Montevideo and the surrounding towns. The chassis will be produced at the Daimler Buses São Bernardo do Campo bus plant in Brazil and will then be equipped with bodies from Marcopolo.
