ZF CETRAX GOES INTO PRODUCTION Starting in the third quarter of 2020, the CeTrax electric central drive will be next to the AxTrax AVE portal axle, the second electric drive from ZF for public transport to go into volume production. The drive will be manufactured in Friedrichshafen. The first buses to use the CeTrax have already been announced. Solaris and MAZ have communicated that they offer the option.

OPTARE AND ARCOLA ENERGY LAUNCHING FUEL CELL METRODECKER Arcola Energy Ltd and Optare Group Ltd has announced the launch of a hydrogen fuel cell double deck bus product for UK and international markets. Bus and power system are built in the UK. The Metrodecker H2 hydrogen bus product is built on the Optare Metrodecker EV platform and incorporates a hydrogen fuel cell powerpack developed by Arcola Energy. It can carry more than 90 passengers with a range of between 200 and 250 miles depending on specification and route.

JOINT VENTURE VOLVO AND DAIMLER FOR PRODUCTION FUEL CELLS Daimler Truck AG and the Volvo Group, have signed a preliminary non-binding agreement to establish a new joint venture. The intention is to develop, produce and commercialize fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications and other use cases. Daimler will consolidate all its current fuel cell activities in the joint venture. The Volvo Group will acquire 50% in the joint venture for the sum of approximately EUR 600 million on a cash and debt free basis.
