ADL AND STAGECOACH IN TRIAL AUTONOMOUS FULL-SIZED BUS

ADL AND STAGECOACH IN TRIAL AUTONOMOUS FULL-SIZED BUS Scotland is to host the trial of the first autonomous full-sized passenger bus fleet. The trial – to begin during 2019 – will include five autonomous single deck vehicles which will run between Fife and Edinburgh. The buses – operated by Stagecoach East Scotland – will be used autonomously to Level 4 standard which means that a driver must remain on board during any journey in line with UK regulations.

The German coach manufacturer claims it is an effective measure to prevent blind spot-related accidents. Furthermore now Neoplan also give customers the possibility to choose for a stairs at the right-hand side of the coach. And the D26 engine is again improved.

The nearly 26 million euro facility will play an important role in ensuring WABCO’s technology leadership in product development and engineering capabilities through future generations of innovation. Including pioneering technologies to support the industry’s migration towards increasingly autonomous, connected and electric commercial vehicles.
