IRIZAR PRESENTS AUTONOMOUS 12M BUS Irizar has presented its first autonomous bus. Spanish city of Malaga had the honour. The City Council of Malaga is pioneering with a mobility project that in a few months will begin to move around the city of Malaga. Irizar has taken up the challenge to implement the autonomous systems into a citybus, the 12 m Irizar ie bus. The zero emissions electric vehicle is equipped with a dual drive mode: manual and automatic (autopilot).

In the past few weeks, project tests were run in front of the Municipal Stadium in Poznań thanks to which the electric bus will be able to precisely show the driver how to dock the pantograph under a charging station.

LONG-RANGE LIDAR FILLS THE SENSOR GAP Bosch is making long-range lidar sensors production-ready. The German manufacturer states it is the first lidar (light detection and ranging) system suitable for automotive use. This laser-based distance measurement technology is indispensable for driving functions at SAE Levels 3 to 5. The new Bosch sensor will cover both long and close ranges – on highways and in the city.

After completion, Salvador's SkyRail (yellow) line will connect with other rail transit lines to form a rail network. The entire project’s construction is expected to kick-off officially at the beginning of 2020.

It is a follow-up from the Snap concept vehicle presented by Rinspeed at the CES 2018. The electric, autonomous vehicle consists of two parts, a chassis (“Skateboard”) and an interchangeable body (“Pod”).
