Busworld Awards promises to be an intense competition
The Busworld Awards competition, previously known as the 'European Coach Week' (ECW) is officially open again. Busworld has been organising this competition since 1983.
Now that the Busworld exhibition is moving from Kortrijk to Brussels, the Busworld Awards competition is moving there too. At the foot of the Atomium, right in front of the majestic Palace 5 of Brussels Expo, about 20 buses and coaches will be tested by more than 30 jurors with different specialisms on October 12th 2019.
What a magnificent view it will be!
€6 MILLION ORDER FOR SOLARIS: 10 ELECTRIC URBINO'S AND CHARGING EQUIPMENT
The Municipal Road and Transport Authority in the Polish city Radom ordered ten Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses together with infrastructure for charging them. The contract worth PLN 26m, just over €6 million, will be completed by mid-June 2020.Read article
RATP HAS AWARDED ALSTOM AN ORDER FOR 50 APTIS ELECTRIC BUSES
As in April announced Alstom is one of the three manufacturers choosen by the Paris public transport company RATP to deliver electric buses. In the first tranche of the tender Alstom is now awarded an order for 50 of the Aptis electric buses. The amount of the framework contract could reach 133 million euros and is 100% financed by Île-de-France Mobilités. These Aptis buses, 12 metres long, will play a role in the massive renewal of the bus fleet of the Île-de-France network.Read article
FIRST GLASGOW INVESTED HEAVILY IN LOW EMISSION BUSES
Bus operator First Glasgow has reached a milestone after investing over £30m in 150 new Alexander Dennis low emission buses in the last six months. Further investment is planned as First Glasgow intends to continue to improve the air quality benefits of its fleet, as well as increasing passenger comfort. To advance safety, some of the new buses have been fitted with the SmartVision system – camera's instead of mirrors.Read article
CONNEXXION INTRODUCES TRAVELING BY BARCODE
Travellers in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands can use tickets with a barcode in the buses of public transport company Connexxion, subsidiary of Transdev. All buses in this region are equipped with a new barcode scanner. Travellers can use this scanner to check in and out.Read article
