DAIMLER BUSES RECEIVES AN ORDER FOR 147 CITY BUSES IN URUGUAY
Daimler Buses has received a major order for 147 city buses in Uruguay. The customer is public transport company C.U.T.C.S.A. (Compañía Uruguaya de Transporte Colectivo S.A.) which serves the capital Montevideo and the surrounding towns. The chassis will be produced at the Daimler Buses São Bernardo do Campo bus plant in Brazil and will then be equipped with bodies from Marcopolo.
MARCOPOLO MAINTAINS GROWTH AND INCREASES PRODUCTION
Brazilian Marcopolo S.A. reported this month its results over the first nine months of the year. The company recorded a consolidated net revenue of BRL 3.121 billion (6.86 million euros), an increase of 5.5% over the same period of the previous year, BRL 2.957 billion. Sales to the Brazilian market grew 16.9% and, together with business abroad, sustained the increase in revenue as Marcopolo states in its press release. Exports dropped 22.0% in the period with revenues of BRL 692.5 million, against BRL 888.0 million from January to September 2018. Despite this, net income was 18.2% higher (BRL 140.7 million against BRL 119 million).
CHILE RECEIVES 100 BYD ELECTRIC BUSES
At the port of San Antonio in Chile 100 BYD K9FE buses were unloaded from a carrier which started its journey at the port of Shanghai on July 1. The 100 buses travelled overland to the Chilean capital Santiago to start their operation for Metbus. They will be running on the Avenida Grecia, a completely electrified bus line that benefits more than 660 thousand people weekly.
FIRST ELECTRIC BUS FLEET IN ARGENTINA
Argentina has inaugurated its first electric bus fleet. In the Mendoza Province 18 electric buses are now in operation, consisting of 12 BYD K9 and 6 Zhong Tong. They will be running on the main lines in the city. Besides this first zero emission bus fleet Argentina's capital Buenos Ares is also running a pilot project with Zhong Tong electric buses.
