VDL Bus & Coach is supplying 65 mini/midi buses to Cyprus Public Transport (CPT). The total order consists of 15 VDL MidCitys and 50 VDL MidEuros. The first 4 MidCitys have recently been delivered.

The Cyprus Public Transport (CPT) is a new bus company and the operator for the capital Nicosia and the district Larnaca for which it won the contract to operate the public transport in those regions for 10 years. The 15 MidCitys will operate mainly in the historic capital Nicosia and on quiet routes through Larnaca, where demand changes during the winter and summer seasons. The 50 VDL MidEuros will be used in the less populated areas, where these buses are the only means of public transport.

The 15 VDL MidCitys are developed especially for public transport and have a multifunctional section with a low floor for standing places or wheelchairs. The compact dimensions make the MidCity an ideal vehicle for transport in city centres. The CPT vehicles have 14 seats, 11 standing places and a wheelchair space with associated ramp. The vehicles have USB connections, a ticket console next to the driver and a double door that is 1,240 mm wide for a fast and easy flow of passengers.

The VDL MidEuro is a compact coach and for Cyprus supplied in a public transport version with 17 seats, 1 seat for the driver and 1 seat for the co-driver. By moving the seats around in the vehicle, it is possible to create a wheelchair space. The vehicle is also equipped with an electric sliding door and electric extendable entrance step. There are USB connections and a ticket console next to the driver.

The new bus operator CPT is part of an international network of transport companies present on 4 continents. In total, these transport companies have more than 40,000 employees. In Cyprus, CPT has a fleet of more than 200 buses and a team of over 500 people.
