Electric motor and fan manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg had a good 2019. Sales rose from 583 million euros to 633 million euros. Boom regions were Asia, Europe and the USA. The year 2020 had also started well - until the Corona crisis, reports the German manufacturer.

The Automotive division with the ZAwheel electric wheel hub drive for buses and coaches was able to position itself well in 2019: conversion solutions that turn a diesel into an electric bus have met with great interest from local authorities and bus companies, reports the company in its report over last year. Ziehl-Abegg says it is also establishing itself in new vehicles. The wheel hub motor that drives new double-decker sightseeing buses is now in use in vehicles London, Brussels or Paris. Ziehl-Abegg is building another production facility for energy-saving EC electric motors in the USA.

Besides electric wheel hubdrives Ziehl-Abegg manufactures fans and elevator drives. Because of the corona crisis many people work from home. This requires a solid network infrastructure with large data centers and they are cooled by fans from Ziehl-Abegg. It is a growing market worldwide due to the requirements of large streaming providers for large computing capacities, which need to be cooled. Ziehl-Abegg has also supplied special fans for hospitals in China in Wuhan, Shandong and Shenzhen, which were installed there within a few days. The German company has also manufactured the core equipment for negative and positive pressure in clinics in Italy and other countries.

With the increase in sales, the number of employees also developed positively: 2,400 people work for Ziehl-Abegg in Germany (previous year: 2,250), and 4,300 people worldwide (previous year: 4,100).
