Busworld has exchanged Kortrijk for the capital of Belgium and the exhibitors have of course moved with them, as has VDL Bus & Coach.
VDL Bus & Coach is presenting this Busworld a coach suitable for fifteen wheelchair users. With the FHD2-139/2300 the lift is mounted above the rear axle of this 13.9 meter long 3-axle, which normally has a 57+1+1 setup. The luxury VDL Class 300 seats can, however, be removed with the help of the quick-closing system, thus creating space for fifteen wheelchair passengers.

Despite all the electrical novelties in the city bus range, diesel is by no means dead. With the introduction on Busworld of the next generation highly efficient Citea LLE diesel, VDL Bus & Coach offers a public transport solution. With a package of measures a 6% fuel reduction can be achieved with this Citea and the repair and maintenance costs decrease. The most visible is the new design of the vehicle in which optimization of aerodynamics has played a major role.

The Futura double-decker, FDD2, is of course also on the stand, this time in a luxury 48+2+1+1 seat layout. It is equipped with USB and 220 V connections and an extensive kitchen. For public transport, the FDD2 is now also available with a Paccar/DAF MX11 engine of 450 hp and 2300 Nm with ZF Ecolife. The Futura range is completed with a luxury VDL Futura FHD2-129/2100 with VDL Class 500 seats. The lighting concept can be set using the RGBW functionality. The VDL Futura's are now standard equipped with Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) with Ecorol function. With the help of GPS data, PPC continuously calculates the course of the road, so that the correct gear is selected at all times. PPC ensures a significant consumption reduction and thus makes a significant contribution to the return.
