A party is being celebrated at MAN this year: 100 years in Plauen were MAN's Bus Modification Center (BMC) is located since 2015. Since one hundred years buses are built at this location. MAN/Neoplan had a number of special vehicles ready for the 'Busworld Prepress Day', vehicles which all will be presented at Busworld. These are old acquaintances, such as the MAN Lion's Coach and the Neoplan Cityliner and Tourliner, but now in special versions.

Nothing is impossible, they say in Plauen. Whether it's a VIP coach, disco bus, double decker with twenty beds on the upper deck, roadshow coaches or exclusive football coach equipment - the MAN Bus Modification Center experts can build almost anything when it comes to special vehicles. Today, 147 employees and eighteen trainees in Plauen, on an area of more than 60,000 square meters, turn special requests of customers into special coaches and vans.

So it started in 1919 by VOMAG (Vogtländische Maschinenfabrik AG - a German machine factory), founded in 1895, with the construction of the first bus chassis in Plauen. Now a hundred years later, the Bus Modification Center is celebrating its successes there. In 2018 alone, 148 coaches and 276 vans were improved and modified. It is not just about the luxury coaches, such as tailor-made team buses for top European football clubs, recently also for the German national football team, but also the conversion of MAN TGE orders for municipal services.

The most appealing are of course the luxury coaches, such as the Lion’s Coach for the football teams of FC Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and the German national team. They are 13 m long-distance versions with 48 seats. It is powered by the 346 kW D2676 LOH engine with a maximum torque of 2400 Nm via the 12-speed MAN TipMatic. Whether this can also be seen at Busworld was not yet certain. There is the Cityliner with a great kitchen and all the luxury you can ask for. It is equipped with electronic CDS shock absorbers and the Optiview camera system that replaces exterior mirrors, and the system to minimize the blind spot.

At Busworld there will also be one of the two Neoplan Tourliners who have completed a music tour through Europe: "The World of Hans-Zimmer". The Tourliner with 'Moving ART design' will be there: furnished as an office and yet with 35 seats in a 2 + 1 version. The position of the B-pillar in the Tourliner has also been improved to offer passengers a better view. It is clear that MAN / Neoplan wants to take the Bus Modification Center to an even higher level with so much attention.
