KEOLIS THE NETHERLANDS ABOUT TO ORDER 300 ELECTRIC BUSES
In the Netherlands three provinces, Overijssel, Gelderland and Flevoland, have announced that Keolis Nederland has been awarded the so-called 'IJssel-Vecht' concession. The contract has a value of € 900 million and will be executed with more than 300 electric buses, the largest electric fleet in the Netherlands.
From December 13, 2020, Keolis will remain the carrier in the Veluwe and Central Overijssel concessions for the coming ten years. In addition, it is expanding its services with the city of Lelystad (2021) and the region IJsselmond (2023).
Keolis convinced the provinces with a complete offer in which the traveler and a robust and high-quality public transport network are central. Frank Janssen, CEO Keolis Nederland: “We are very happy that we have won this concession. Every year, 17 million travelers will use our vehicles driven by 700 motivated employees. High-quality Public Transport (HOV) for a future-proof and strong main network connects economic regions and the passenger comfort of the vehicles plays a major role. Keolis will play an active role in a platform that other mobility providers can join to offer the widest possible range of transport.”
With this new contract, Keolis Nederland is also introducing the largest fleet of electric vehicles in the Netherlands. This e-fleet is also the largest of its kind worldwide for the Keolis Group. Keolis is not permitted to disclose the manufacturers who will be delivering the vehicles because of a legal six weeks term in which the award of the contract can be contested by competitors. After this six weeks the contract is irrevocable.
