The Swedish public transport operator Vy Buss AB has ordered 50 zero-emission and low emission buses at Solaris Bus & Coach. The order exists of 8 Urbino 12 electric and 42 CNG solo and articulated CNG buses.

The 50 buses are intended to go into operation in two cities: Gävle and Hässleholm situated at the Gulf of Bothnia. The bulk of the ordered buses, 48 vehicles, are for Gävle. This Swedish city will receive 24 Solaris Urbino 12 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), 16 articulated Solaris Urbino 18 CNG and 8 Solaris Urbino 12 electric. Vy Buss AB has also commissioned 2 CNG-fuelled Solaris Urbino 12 which will be running in Hässleholm. The gas-fuelled buses will be delivered mid 2020, where as the electric buses are to be supplied in the first quarter of 2022. The contract also involves ten year of technical support by Solaris.

The Solaris 12 electric will be fitted with 200 kWh Solaris High Energy batteries. There will be 28 seats onboard of each of the buses as well as two additional folding seats. The buses running on compressed natural gas meet the European emission norm Euro 6. The Solaris Urbino 12 CNG buses will offer 31 seats, where as the 18-metre buses will hold 45 seats (including four folding ones).

Solaris has supplied customers in Sweden with over 600 vehicles. The vast majority of these are low or zero-emission vehicles.
