Nobina, Sweden’s largest bus operator, has added a further 20 eBuses to its growing intake of orders from Chinese electric bus manufacturer BYD. Deliveries of the 18 metre articulated K11 eBus model will commence at the end of 2019. They are being build in BYD's Hungarian factory in the city of Komarom.

This latest electric bus order follows Nobina’s order for 26 BYD vehicles last autumn, comprising eleven 12 metre eBuses, ten 18 metre articulated eBuses and five 8.7 metre midi-buses – all scheduled for delivery this summer. With the 20 eBuses from the latest order Nobina has a total fleet of 138 vehicles. With this it is BYD’s largest bus fleet customer in the Nordic region.

There are already 36 BYD eBuses running successfully in several Swedish cities. Around 70 BYD eBuses are scheduled for delivery this year in Norway and Denmark. The Nordic region is together with Netherlands, France, United Kingdom and Italy a key market for BYD which has now over 700 eBuses in operation or in order in Europe.

The Nobina BYD eBuses are powered by a new generation, cobalt-free, BYD Iron-Phosphate batteries. “Nobina is strengthening the position as the leading operator of electric bus solutions and sustainable public transport services in the Nordics,” said Martin Atterhall, Fleet Manager of the Nobina Group.
