Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. is to supply 3 electric buses to the Polish city Włocławek. Also Solaris received an order for 25 low-floor city buses from Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej (PKM), a local transport operator in Katowice. This Katowice order has a value of PLN 22.85 million (5,14 million euro) and the three electric buses for Włocławek represent a value of nearly PLN 8.5 million (1,98 million euro).

With this order Włocławek joins the Polish municipalities who are transforming public transport busfleet into a zero-emission fleet. Both orders are to be delivered at the end of this year. The Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses commissioned by the Włocławek City Hall will be the first public transport vehicles with electric drivelines in this city. Solaris High Energy batteries with a capacity of 200 kWh and an axle with integrated electric motors of 2x125 kW make up the drive train. Solaris will also deliver four stand-alone charging stations for bus depots. The buses will be adapted to plug-in battery charging. But the buses are ready for the assembly of pantographs. The twelve-metre Urbino electrics will be fully air-conditioned and are equipped with a hybrid heating system, involving thermal pre-conditioning to help reduce energy usage in the challenging autumn-winter season. It enables the bus to cover a longer distance on a single charging session. The three Urbino 12 electric buses are to roll out on the streets of Włocławek in October 2019.

In Katowice the transport operator Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej (PKM), is expecting its first buses in December 2019. It are Solaris Urbino 12 powered by a 220 kW Euro 6 engine. They will be additionally equipped with the so-called cold start system that facilitates ignition at temperatures down to -32 degrees Celsius. Air conditioning, video monitoring system with external and internal cameras and a recorder, as well as an extensive passenger information system adapted to the needs of the visually impaired, e.g. by means of Braille buttons will be available. There will also be free WiFi Internet and USB ports. At the customer's request a closed-type driver's cabin is to be installed for safety reasons. Another safety feature is the fire extinguishing system equipped with an additional sensor in the engine compartment.
