Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, and India’s largest Bus manufacturer, confirmed early January that it bagged orders for 2580 buses. These orders, are among the largest from STU’s (State Transport Undertakings) for a single OEM. All these buses has to be delivered before March 2019.

Ashok Leyland is currently the fourth largest manufacturer of buses in the world and India’s largest bus manufacturer. These orders would further consolidate its leadership position. It is not uncommon in India to hand out these large orders. In 2016 Tata Motors, which says it is the country’s largest commercial vehicles manufacturer, received orders for over 5,000 buses from 25 State / City Transport Undertakings across the country.

Speaking about this latest order for these 2580 buses, Mr. Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, emphasised his happiness with receiving these orders from State Transport Undertakings. Speaking on the win, Mr. Sanjay Saraswat, Senior Vice President, Global Buses, Ashok Leyland, said, “Our buses are durable, robust and employ the latest in technology.
