Heliox delivers the first all-electric fast charging solution to Ekova e-buses in Czech Republic, marking the first fast charging network in Central and Eastern Europe.

Heliox has installed a fast charging network for the first electric bus network in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It is the first fully electric bus fleet in Czech Republic. Heliox has supplied its powerful Heliox OC 450 KW charging system. Ostrava is taking first steps to reduce harmful emissions in Czech Republic by switching to all-electric buses with an end goal to gradually put diesel-powered buses out of operation.

Heliox OC 450 kW charger follows the principals of opportunity charging that creates a robust and a flexible charging system utilizing a pantograph- a flexible hinged assembly that enables a swift charge. The provided automated coupler device (ACD) system is an inverted pantograph solution where an infrared signal initiates the charge session.

This is the first e-mobility project of this type of fast charging. At Ekova Electric we are fulfilling our strategy: to develop intelligent solutions for public transport.” As example of interoperability and strength of open interface, Heliox fast chargers support open communication and the latest OCPP 1.6 Back office system that is preferred by the customer which help monitor and manage the infrastructure network. Consequently, this allows to increase up-time and substantially reduce down-time of the operation.

Heliox has charges more than 430 electric buses all around the world. Heliox’s portfolio in DC fast charging solutions ranges from 25kW mobile chargers to Ultra-Fast Charging 600kW solutions for electric vehicles.

Ekova Electric is a subsidiary of Dopravní podnik Ostrava, Poland. Ekova’s vision is to be a stable European provider of services in the field of production, repairs, maintenance and modernization of trams, trolleybuses and electric buses.
