IVECO BUS DELIVERS 61 CROSSWAY TO SARDINIAN ARST
Iveco Bus won the call for tenders that it responded to last October, concerning the delivery of 61 Crossway. The tender was launched in July 2017 by the Sardinian transportcompany ARST and covered 61 Crossways in two different versions: 28 units of ten meters long and 33 units of twelve meters long. These vehicles complement a fleet of nearly a thousand units.
This acquisition is part of a broader vehicle renewal project initiated by ARST, the largest short-haul public transport company in Sardinia, and one of the largest at the national level, which mainly manages the suburban transport, but also the urban services of the cities of Alghero, Carbonia, Iglesias, Macomer and Oristano. This order is the result of a joint venture between ARST and 15 other transport companies in the region.
These Crossways have a number of innovative features to improve comfort and safety on board: hydraulic platform to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, automatic fire fighting system, video surveillance system, surveillance cameras, route indicators and reclining seats in vandal resistant fabric.
A series of driver assistance systems and an ergonomic driver's cab to improve driver comfort. The buses are equipped with a Tector 7 engine of 320hp Euro 6 and is coupled to a ZF Ecolife gearbox. Maintenance intervals can be longer thanks to the HI-post treatment system.
The official delivery of 61 Crossways to ARST was held at the premises of Pratosardo in Nuoro, in the presence of the General Management of the company, namely Mr. Chicco Porcu, Sole Director, Mr. Andrea Soddu, Mayor of Nuoro, Mr. Carlo Careddu, Regional Adviser for Transport of Sardinia, Mr. Davide Pollano, Business Manager South Europe Iveco Bus, as well as Mr. Marcello Zanella, Managing Director of Iveco Acentro, the local dealer.
