After having launched a prototype of worlds first fuel cell double decker two years ago, Wrightbus now showcased the 'real thing' at Euro Bus Expo 2018 in Birmingham. The new Streetdeck FCEV has a Ballard fuel cell and a Siemens drivetrain.

Wrightbus developed the Streetdeck FCEV as part of the EU funded JIVE project. Already customers are in place to make use of these fuel cell buses. As art of the JIVE project the city of London will be the first to order this fuel cell bus. It is a 10.9m bus with 64 passenger seats. With a 48kW traction battery pack the Streetdeck FCEV has a 322km operating range. A 426km extended range is also available. Refueling the bus takes approximately seven minutes. The hydrogen storage tanks are lightweight. A Battery Management System monitors and balances the stored power while the vehicle is in use.
The modular platform developed for this fuel cell bus is also suited for the battery electric variants. Wrightbus has developed the chassis as a platform for both single-story buses as well as the double-deckers. The vehicle has a flat floor throughout the bus. The heating and cooling system is also zero-emission.
