Volvo’s new coaches for tourist and line-haul operations, which were introduced in Europe in May, have received a very enthusiastic market welcome. Since the start of sales nearly 150 new Volvo 9700 and Volvo 9900 coaches have been sold to customers around Europe.

The largest single order so far encompasses 40 buses for Lithuania. Sales also include orders in countries such as Norway (+23 units), Austria (+11 units) and France (+20 units). All the ordered vehicles will be delivered in 2019. The new range includes two models, the high-spec Volvo 9900 and the flexible Volvo 9700, along with a wide range of equipment and service packages, making it possible to offer customer-tailored solutions to suit individual needs and wishes. The Volvo 9900 is available in three lengths 12, 13 and 14 m on a two or three chassis (4x2 and 6x2). The 9900 features also the sloping “theatre floor”. The Volvo 9700 is with 3.65 m 20 cm lower then its big brother. For both the driveline consists of a Volvo D11 Euro 6 engine (430 or 460 hp) and the I-Shift automated gearbox. He body is constructed of newly developed corrosion-preventive structure and sandwich-construction roof gives the bus low weight and a low centre of gravity. This autumn the new Volvo coaches, which were recently unveiled to the public at the IAA transport fair in Hannover, have also been presented at IBE in Rimini, Autocar Expo in Lyon, Persontrafik in Stockholm and at Eurobus Expo in Birmingham.
