With the new owner of Solaris Bus & Coach, the Spanish CAF Group, a new direction for the Polish company might become visible with the appointment of the new ceo. Spanish Javier Calleja is since 3 October the new Chief Executive Officer of Solaris Bus & Coach.

With 100% of the Solaris shares CAF has total control over the company, were as the Polish PFR investment fund, Polski Fundusz Rozwoju, financed 35% of the CAF acquissition. According to the press release concerning the sale of Solaris it was stated that through the participation of a solid financial partner like PFR as a minority shareholder, CAF maintains the Polish identity of Solaris and strengthens its position to accomplish the ambitious growth plan of the company. A strategy which Javier Calleja now has to fulfil. In the prestressed about his appointment it is mentioned that Calleja 'has deep experience with large transformations and operational improvement projects, across many geographies in Europe and America'. The 50 year old Calleja was a partner at Bain & Company, a consulting company and has a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering at University in Bilbao (Spain) and a Master of Business Administration from Insead in France. Josu Imaz, President of Supervisory Board at Solaris, said about Javier Calleja: “He is going to successfully implement our strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead, especially at e-mobility public transport sector.”
