FORCE MOTORS NEW MONOCOQUE MIDIBUS AT BUSWORLD INDIA
Force Motors unveiled India's first 33/41 seater monocoque bus, which marked its foray into the 'midibus' category. Is is designed for two purposes: as a schoolbus and for rural traffic.
As a schoolbus it is possible to have 3+3 seating for the Traveller Scholar. It can carry up to 60 children plus driver plus attendent. The robust designed buses has a lightweight monocoque body with parabolic suspension. All wheel hydraulic disc brakes with ABS en ETDC are there for safety. The robust design also makes it possible to have storage space under the seats. The length is 8,430 mm for the 4020WB and 9,910 mm for the 5200WB version. The GVW is 7,400 kg and 8,540 kg. It has a 5 cylinder FM 3.2 CR engine on board which delivers 85 kW (115 hp) at 2800 rpm with maximum torque of 350 Nm art 1600-2200 rpm.
Other new vehicles on display were the Traveller Rural Bus, the Traveller T23350 and the Traveller 26AC CNG. It are minibuses for transportation of up to 20 people plus driver, ten seated and ten standing. The length of the bus is 5,415 mm. Safety measures are ABS and EBD. The buses are protected against rust by cathodic electro dip painting.
The FM engine Force is supplying their buses with is an upgraded Mercedes-Benz OM 261 engine, design 1988. The FM engines are compliant with the latest BS4 standard India has implemented. It is said that India wants to skip the step to BS5 and implement in the near future BS6 which should be equal to Euro 6.
