The Russian bus market is still growing strong. Autostat analytic agency reported sales of 6,300 buses (+3,5 t) over the first half of 2018. According to the agency this a plus of 21,8% in comparison with the same period a year ago. The sales in the European Union were according to the Acea 20,206 buses. A decline of 0.9% in relation to the first half of 2017 when there were 20,398 buses sold.

Where in the European Union brands like Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, MAN, VDL, Solaris, Irizar and others are filing the streets Russia gives a totally different view. The domestic brands are leading. Russian manufacturer PAZ is now the biggest bus maker and market leader with 51% share and 3235 buses sold, a 8.7% growth. LiAZ is second with 1,133 units, but this is 34.7% more buses sold the in the first six months of 2017. Nefaz is also doing well with 388 units resulting in 53.4% growth. In the stats there is also the Belarusian based manufacturer MAZ which is the most popular foreign brand in the Russian market with 376 units sold (+44.6%). Chinese manufacturer Yutong has sold 312 units in the first six months of this year.
A large part of the deliveries is of “small-class high-floor” buses from between 7 and 10 metres. PAZ sold 1775 of its 3205 model and the 884 units of the “small-class” 3204. The 12 metre Liaz-5250 comes third in the ranking with 416 units. High-floor medium-class PAZ-4234 occupies the fourth place with 396 units sold. Nefaz-5299 is fifth with 388 units sold.
