IRIZAR LAUNCHES I6S IN AUSTRALIA
Irizar is launching the Irizar i6S in the Australian market. The presentation of this new addition to Irizar’s catalogue took place mid July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The new concept of the i6S inherits the design of the International Coach of the Year 2018, the Irizar i8, with straight lines and the V-shape concept.
As the natural successor to the i6 coach that was first launched in Australia in 2012, six years after Irizar officially landed here with the Century, this new i6S is the latest trend in bodywork to be sold in countries like Australia and South Africa. Before the launch, Irizar confirmed that it already had an order intake of 20 units, and that six of them would go to Australia.
"So far Dysons, Australia Wide Coaches, Sid Fogg's, Compass Tours, Alston Coaches and Around Town Tours are the first to receive the new i6S", said Irizar Asia-Pacific CEO Daniel Castro. "The Irizar i6S is a milestone because it is the first model completely designed for Australia, with the experience we have gathered over the last 12 years. In 2006 we delivered the first Irizar in Australia, 2018 will be our record with 95. In 2019 we forecast more than 100. To date, more than 750 Irizars are on Australian roads. Within the Irizar Group Oceania is listed in the top 10 markets, by volume.
Irizar considers their coaches to be the landmark of a new trend in design in Europe and says that the soul of its aesthetics is the cutting-edge technology that capitalises on the values of the Irizar i6: quality, robustness and reliability of a model of coach tested along the years in the best proving ground, the customers’ operations.
The I6s blends the European style of the i8 coaches with a product compatible with wide ADR for local use based on the successful current i6 body. The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national standards for vehicle safety, anti-theft and emissions. The ADRs are generally performance based and cover issues such as occupant protection, structures, lighting, noise, engine exhaust emissions, braking and a range of miscellaneous items.
