SIX IRIZAR IE-BUS ELECTRIC BUSES FOR LUXEMBOURG
Spanish bus manufacturer Irizar delivered the first six ie-bus electric buses to busoperator Voyages Emile Weber in Luxembourg. It is the first delivery of an order for ten ie-buses from Irziar. For the Voyages Emile Weber group, the initiative forms part of the 'Empowering Mobility' programme, the goal of which is to electrify mobility.
The following four - 18 metre articulated units - will be handed over in the second half of this year. These initial six units are 12-metre long Irizar ie-bus models with two doors. They are equipped with USB ports and the ‘Eco Assist’ system which assists the driver in real time to optimise his driving in order to reduce energy consumption and increase the bus's range.
These buses will operate in Luxembourg City and connect Mersch (Gare) and Luxembourg (Terminus: Badanstalt). Irizar says the buses have a range of over 200 km or 16 hours of driving in heavy traffic conditions. The vehicles will be charged at night in the new 'Bissen' depots using six chargers with Combo-CCS2 connectors that have also been supplied by Irizar. The Spanish busmanufacturer earlier announced that it has established a new after-sales service in the city of Luxembourg, close to the new Bissen depots.
The Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures of Luxembourg François Bausch, said at the handover ceremony that in light of advances in technology, all RGTR buses in Luxembourg will be completely zero emissions in 2030.
