NISSAN TO LAUNCH ELECTRIC BUS WITH LEAF TECHNOLOGY
Headed by Kumamoto University, the testing of the Yoka ECO Bus is to commence this February. The bus comes with three electric drives, batteries as well as the inverter of Nissan’s bestselling EV.
Nissan is the project’s technology partner and is also developing a dedicated gearbox for the bus. However, by utilising existing technologies from the Leaf, the cost to build electric buses shall decrease substantially.
On the initiative of Kumamoto University, experts from the automotive industry and the government will join forces with the scientists. The project is part of the university’s ongoing involvement with the Japanese Ministry of Environment and aims to reduce or eliminate CO2 and other emissions from large vehicles such as buses and trucks.
