BYD NOVELTIES AT BUSWORLD 2017
The Chinese electric bus manufacturer BYD will be launching a lot of new developments at the coming Busworld exhibition. As a European premiere they will be unveiling the first ever bus BYD has built itself in Europe, at its new Hungary plant in Komarom.
The bus has a length of 12 meters. A real world premiere is the all new low floor European specification midibus.
This new addition augments the BYD range which already covers 10.2m, 10.8m and 12m single deckers, an 18m artic and double-deckers.
The BYD Midibus offers full air conditioning, an overall length of just 8.75m and many proven ‘big bus’ features.
All buses will get a new frontal appearance, which will be shown at Busworld Kortrijk, setting the standard for all future BYD ebuses, the exhibit has a number of features which will also be common to future BYD models including a passenger saloon which is free of batteries, a new ergonomic drivers compartment, LED lighting and a new automatic battery compartment sprinkler system.
The existing arrangement with ADL for 10.8m Enviro200EV single-deckers, as being delivered to London, remains in place for the UK market. The current 12m bus, such as those running in Nottingham, were built at BYD’s plant in China.
“It will take BYD into new sectors of the European market and give operators the opportunity to provide emission free transport on routes where BYD’s larger models cannot penetrate,” the company explains.
