Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. and Indian JBM Group have decided to establish a joint venture company in India. The strategic goals of the cooperation are development, sales and service maintenance of vehicles with alternative powertrains – electric and hybrid buses – for the Indian market. The JBM Solaris joint venture will be based in Delhi NCR, India and will capitalize on the strong reputation Solaris has developed as a provider of mass city transportation solutions and on JBM’s strength in the area of design and development to suit Indian requirements.

The role of Solaris in the joint venture company is to develop, integrate and deliver components as well as know-how for the alternative propulsion systems to JBM. The first jointly manufactured vehicle will be launched after 12 to 18 months from now.  The vehicles with alternative powertrains will be manufactured at the production facilities of JBM in India, partially being based on Solaris’s construction.

JBM Auto Ltd. is the flagship company of the USD1.35 billion JBM Group.

Solaris Bus & Coach is a major European producer of city, intercity and special-purpose buses as well as low-floor trams. Since the start of production in 1996, over 14 000 vehicles have already left the factory in Bolechowo near Poznan. They are running in 30 countries.
