The tender is intended for acquiring new bus rolling stock for use during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which is held in Russia. During a recent meeting in Minsk, Krasnodar Krai invited Belarus to take part in its tender to buy buses for this event.

The Governor of this Russian region, Veniamin Kondratyev, said as he met with Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin in Minsk recently, BelTA has learned. “We invite Belarus to take part in a bus purchase tender for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. I think we will call it for a minimal batch of 100 buses. Then we will see how many of them we will need,” said Veniamin Kondratyev. According to him, Krasnodar Krai is interested in the joint production of agricultural, road and municipal vehicles. “You have enough capacities for us to combine efforts and with the help of joint companies supply our regional market,” the Governor said. For his part, Anatoly Kalinin stressed that the Belarusian government hosts regular meetings with the heads of the Russian regions, which promotes intensification and strengthening of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation. In his words, Krasnodar Krai is among Belarus' key partners in Russia. “The relations between Belarus and the region have reached a high level of partnership that helps building up mutually beneficial cooperation in all the spheres. Unfavorable external factors have led to a reduced mutual trade in 2015. In physical volumes it contracted insignificantly. In monetary terms it went down by nearly 30%. I am confident, however, that Belarus and Krasnodar Krai have enough internal reserves that can be used to restore the sustainable economic growth, outline prospects for increasing mutual trade,” said Anatoly Kalinin. In January-April 2016 the trade between Belarus and Krasnodar Krai totaled $77.2 million, down 1.9% from the same period last year.
