INDIA TO PURCHASE 25 HYBRID BUSES FOR BKC IN MUMBAI

In order to make the Bandra-Kurla Complex of Mumbai a pollution free sector, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is procuring 25 hybrid buses from Tata, which are environment friendly. The 25 buses will arrive in the next eight months and will be operated by the Brihanmumbai Electrical Supply and Transport (BEST) drivers. The hybrid buses will run on BEST route number 310.

Since Bandra-Kurla Complex is a MMRDA developed area, the authority has chosen it as the first area where a pollution free transport system can be introduced. The hybrid buses which are also known as diesel-electric buses use a combination of an electric battery pack and a diesel engine to provide power. This is responsible for less fuel consumption making the buses environment friendly.
