NEOBUS SPECTRUM ROAD PANORAMIC FOR RIO

Recently launched in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro was the "Spectrum Road Panoramic" sightseeing bus, built by San Marino Neobus on a Scania K310 chassis.  A number of these vehicles has been acquired by Rio Breda Tourism Company, that will use them in sightseeing tours. This new service, called City Rio, will present the main historic and cultural attractions of this wonderful city to tourists from around the world. 

TATA MOTORS ACQUIRES HISPANO CARROCERA

Tata Motors Ltd, which claims to be the second largest bus manufacturer in the world, has acquired Hispano Carrocera SA of Spain, buying the 79% of shares it did not already own. It had held a 21% stake for a few years.

SINGAPORE ORDERS 150 VOLVO/WRIGHT DOUBLE-DECKER BUSES

Volvo Buses has secured an order for 150 double-deckers for Singapore. The customer, SBS Transit, has opted for the environmentally friendly Euro V engines, although these are not yet a requirement in Singapore. The bodies will be supplied by Wright. The value of the order is about US$ 60 million.

KONTRON WINS LOCAL TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY ORDER IN BELGIUM

Kontron AG, providers of embedded computer systems, has received a multi-million euro order from the Walloon Transport Company in Belgium, which has opted for Kontron technologies for future complex applications. A corresponding master agreement entailing an order volume of over EUR 8 million has now been signed. As part of the first step, the plan is to equip over 2,500 buses from 2010 with an innovative system in the area of local public transport, which will ensure a significant boost in terms of safety, reliability, and punctuality.

NEW PLAXTON GETS A TRADITIONAL NAME: ELITE

One of the most traditional names from the British coach building industry is “Elite” appearing for the first time on a Plaxton coach in 1968: the Plaxton Panorama Elite. Now the name resurrects on a beautiful coach which will be the flagship of the Plaxton range for the coming years.
