FAW KEEN TO MAKE LOW-FLOOR BUS IN WEST BENGAL

Chinese vehicle manufacturer First Automobile Works (FAW) recently expressed its interest to set up an unit in West Bengal for producing low-floor bus, in a joint venture with Ural India. FAW officials are looking for 300 acre from the state government to set up the joint venture unit adjacent to the Ural India project.

ABU DHABI ORDERS 400 BUSES FROM MAN

Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi has placed an order for 400 city and intercity buses with MAN.The Dubai-based MAN subsidiary, in cooperation with local importer Darwish Bin Ahmed & Sons Company, was able to land the contract from the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi (DoT). The order comprises a total of 400 low-floor and intercity buses worth a three-figure million euro sum.

LOWER 2009 BUS SALES FORECAST FOR SOUTH-AFRICA AS BRT TENDERS RUN LATE

Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) bus and coach division has lowered the forecast for the 2009 bus market from the 3000 units expected last year to between 1700 and 2000 units, due to the fact that the tenders for the various bus rapid transit (BRT) systems and government’s 2010 FIFA World Cup tender are running later than expected.
