SAFT, ESMA TO COOPERATE ON SUPERCAPACITORS

Saft, a global specialist in the design and manufacture of high-tech industrial batteries, has signed an agreement with ESMA, the Russian Joint Stock Co., to cooperate in the development, production and commercialization of supercapacitors based on ESMA’s technology.

CUMMINS CLEAN ISBe MEETS EEV WITHOUT PARTICULATE FILTRATION

Cummins ISBe engine testing has proved that the ISBe will now meet the EEV emissions levels without the need for additional particulate filtration, and the resulting installation and maintenance costs. EEV stands for “Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle”, and is a voluntary standard that is more stringent than the lowest levels introduced by the European Community to date, Euro 5.  

WABCO INTRODUCES OPTIDRIVE MODULAR TRANSMISSION AUTOMATION

Wabco recently introduced OptiDrive as the brand name for the company’s new modular automated manual transmission system, continuing the company’s 20-year track record of technology leadership in transmission automation. This new system’s high degree of modularity significantly reduces the development time required for application to transmission and vehicle platforms, enabling faster time to market for manufacturers of trucks, buses and transmissions.

CHINA YUCHAI SOLD 372,000 ENGINES IN 2008

China Yuchai International Limited, whose subsidiary Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited ( also known as GYMCL) is a leading manufacturer and distributor of diesel engines in China, used among other by a large number of bus and coach manufacturers, recently announced total sales of approximately 372,000 diesel engine units for the year ended December 31, 2008.

BITZER STARTS PRODUCTION IN INDIA

German compressor manufacturer Bitzer is setting up a production facility in India.  The company will be investing Euro 4 to 5 million on the plant coming up near Mumbai, according to Mr. Jean - Marc Dameron, Managing Director of Bitzer India. The Bitzer Group is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigerant compressors.
