NEW AIR SUSPENSION FOR MINIBUSES FROM DRIVE-RITE

Dublin-based Drive-Rite Air Suspensions says its new Generation II IntelliRide Electronic Air Suspension is aimed at vans, minibuses, ambulances and community transport vehicles.  It is an air suspension control system, pioneered by Firestone, which can be adapted to meet the most specific needs of a vehicle maker or converter. 

COMING NEAR: TRACKING TIRES FOR LIFE

It appears that the possibility of passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags in bus and coach tires may become reality in the near future. This technology will allow tire manufacturers to electronically establish each tire’s record for inventory, service life and warranty purposes. As an added bonus, the tags should have extra memory storage to accommodate in-life programming after the tire is put into service.

CHINA BUS BUSINESS BOOST FOR EUROPEAN SUPPLIERS

Leading Chinese bus manufacturer Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry is planning to build its first European plant in Hungary. The Xiamen, China-based automotive group, which sold around 1,000 buses in Europe during 2008, said it expects to begin work on the project by mid-2010. The group is expected to make use of local and other European made components in its Hungarian bus assembly. King Long revealed its European plan after signing a declaration of intent over the project but no details of the investment involved were given.

MERITOR SPECIALIST DRIVE AXLE FOR COACHES ON INDIAN MARKET

Meritor HVS (India) Ltd of Mysore displayed its MS13 177 single reduction hypoid drive axle (the predecessor to the 17X now used in Western Europe) at AutoExpo in Delhi. The axle, said Meritor, was targeted at India’s luxury coach market such as the Volvo B7R, now the B9R. A modified version made in India is to be launched later this year.

Press Release With Navistar’s choice of Advanced EGR to satisfy 2010 EPA emissions standards, the company needed a technology that could help reduce NOx emissions. It’s found that solution in the form of the Amminex solution. The American truck and bus manufacturer has reached agreement to purchase an interest in Amminex, a Danish company that provides a metal ammine-based NOx reductant delivery system.
