TWELVE SOLARIS TROLLEYBUSES FOR SOFIA
Over the coming months, the trolleybus fleet in the Bulgarian capital Sofia will benefit from the investment in 30 new Solaris Trollino 12. These quiet and eco-friendly trolleybuses will be supplied by Solaris Bus & Coach to Sofia Electrotransport EAD. They will be the first trolleybuses in Sofia to offer low-floor easy access throughout the vehicle, setting new standards in passenger comfort.
DAIMLER BUS TARGETS EBIT OF EURO 180 MILLION IN FULL-YEAR 2010
Recovering automotive markets around the world, strong growth in major car and commercial-vehicle markets, an attractive product portfolio and the implementation of efficiency improvements had a very positive effect on Daimler AG in the second quarter of 2010. Group EBIT amounted to euro 2,104 million (Q2 2009: minus euro 1,005 million). "Our strategy is paying off: We have a very dynamic development of unit sales and revenue in all divisions. After what was already a very good first quarter, we achieved excellent results in the second quarter," stated Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler.
MAN INTEGRATES TRUCK AND BUS BRANDS IN MEXICO
MAN is to bundle production and sales of trucks and buses at its Querétaro site in Mexico. MAN- and VW-branded vehicles are now to be assembled and sold under the management of MAN Latin America. The service network in Mexico will also be integrated. Services for vehicles of both brands are now available to customers in all 18 service centers.
ASHOK LEYLAND TO BUY 26% STAKE IN OPTARE
India’s second-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland (part of the London-based Hinduja Group) has agreed to buy a 26% stake in Leeds-based Optare. The money - £5m before expenses - will be raised by the issue of new Optare shares, which the board is recommending that shareholders should approve at a General Meeting on 16 August.
SCANIA CONSIDERING TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION WITH MAN
Scania AB, the Swedish truckmaker controlled by Volkswagen AG, said it may cooperate with MAN SE on technology and research. Scania and MAN are studying whether to work together on hybrid components research as well as to share gearboxes and axles, the Södertälje-based company said today in a statement.
