MAN TRUCK &BUS AWARDED MAJOR ORDER FOR BUS ENGINES FROM RUSSIA

MAN Truck & Bus has been awarded the delivery of 2,188 engines to the Russian bus manufacturer LIAZ (Likinski Awtobusny Zawod), a subsidiary of the GAZ Group, Russia's biggest automobile company. The order is valued in the high double-digit million euros and comprises a range from efficient diesel engines to natural-gas engines. The engines will operate mainly in city busses in the Russian metropolises of Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as in other Russian cities.
VDL BUS & COACH GETS ORDER OF 230 BUSES FOR JAMAICA

JUTC (Jamaica Urban Transit Company), responsible for the public transport in Jamaica, has placed a new order with VDL Bus & Coach, this time for 230 buses. The delivery will be spread over four years, beginning with a batch of 65 buses in April 2012. This new order brings the total number of new VDL buses for Jamaica to 851.
PROTERRA SIGNS CONTRACT WITH FLORIDA'S STARMETRO

Proterra, the maker of zero-emission commercial transit solutions, signed an agreement with StarMetro, the transit provider in Tallahassee, Fla., to deliver three new EcoRide zero-emission transit buses and a charging station. The contract stems from a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant received by StarMetro to pursue fast-charge, electric transit buses and charging stations.

The Zurich Public Transport (VBZ) has ordered twelve Ligh Tram 24-metre double-articulated trolleybuses from Vossloh Kiepe GmbH and Hess AG,which are completely emission-free. The electric drive developed by Vossloh Kiepe facilitates this by using a modern Li-ion battery as a substitute for the usual diesel generator aggregate. By combining overhead-wire operation and energy storage via Li traction batteries, the buses run without using any fossil combustibles. Thus the Ligh Trams are sustainable and environmentally friendly as well as ultra-silent.
