AEC FORMS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH NORINCO
Advanced Engine Components Ltd (AEC), producer of patented electronic fuel injection and engine management technologies for natural gas engines, has settled the terms of a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Norinco Equipment Co Ltd (“Norinco”) of China. Norinco is a subsidiary of state-owned China North Industries Group Corporation (“CNGC”), involved in the development and export of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and engines.
ZF AND CONTINENTAL AGREE UPON COMMERCIAL VEHICLE HYBRID DRIVE COOPERATION
ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Continental have concluded an agreement on the cooperation in the fields of the development and production of hybrid drives for buses and trucks. To this end, ZF, as the systems supplier, is in charge of the system integration for the hybrid system; the latter is made up by a parallel hybrid transmission by ZF, a lithium-ion battery accumulator, and system electronics by Continental.
NAVISTAR AWARDED DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY FUNDING FOR PLUG-IN HYBRID SCHOOL BUS
Navistar was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to participate in a project that will develop and deliver energy-efficient and environmentally friendly plug-in hybrid school buses. It has selected Navistar for a cost-shared award of up to $10 million—half of the total projected cost.
RESEARCHERS DEVELOP PROCESS FOR CONVERSION OF CO2 TO METHANOL
Researchers at Singapore’s Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) have developed a catalytic process for the conversion of CO2 to methanol under mild conditions (room temperature). A paper on the work was published in the 20 April issue of the journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition, where it was designated a “Hot Paper.”
GREEN CNG BUSES TO HIT VIETNAM STREETS
Vietnam is poised to become a big consumer of compressed natural gas (CNG) in July when it will begin a pilot project for 50 CNG buses and build two filling stations. The cleaner buses will be imported to Ho Chi Minh City soon after two CNG filling stations are opened in July in the city and neighboring province Ba Ria Vung Tau, said Nguyen Si Thang, CEO of Petrol Vietnam Southern Gas.
