Ten of China’s top automakers are joining in a research and development working group (T10 Electric Vehicles) for electric vehicle powertrains and components. The first meeting of the group was 30-31 July in Beijing.

Tabontabon is a municipality in the Philippines, about 30 kilometers south of Tacloban City in the province of Leyte. UK PLANS TO INTRODUCE WORKPLACE PARKING LEVY

In a government bid to reduce urban traffic, carbon emissions and pollution, the city of Nottingham is likely to be the site in the UK for the first workplace parking levy. It could be introduced in 2012 with other councils following suit. Funds raised could finance other projects, among them an improved public transport system.
ALLISON TRANSMISSION AWARDED U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY STIMULUS GRANT

Allison has been awarded a grant of $62.8 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for its hybrid drive s system, suitable for trucks and buses. This DOE grant will reinforce the company's efforts to design and produce a cost-competitive hybrid drive system for commercial-duty trucks at its Indianapolis, Ind., manufacturing facilities
AVL EXPERTS VALIDATE FISHER HYBRID DRIVELINE
AVL Powertrain Engineering Inc., the American subsidiary of the Austrian engineering firm, has evaluated the electric propulsion systems of hybrid bus maker Fisher Coachworks, founded by a grandson of Fisher Body founder Albert Fisher. She reviewed, according to reports in American media, the component selection and powertrain strategy of Fisher's GTB-40 bus, which will be powered by a hybrid-electric powertrain or an all-electric powertrain.
