Abu Dhabi’s transport authorities are implementing an integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) strategy, in a bid to create a world-class transportation system for the Emirate. The scheme will involve the construction of a new Abu Dhabi Transportation Management Centre (ADTMC), which will have the ability to accommodate and integrate regional and urban traffic management, public transport operations and safety, traveler information and coordination of incident and emergency management.

The Beijing branch of the State Grid Corporation of China has confirmed that there will be 466 electric vehicle battery charging stations in the capital within five years, the Beijing Youth Daily reported today. The company has already installed eight full charging stations in Beijing.

Half a billion people worldwide will use their mobile devices as travel tickets on metros, subways and buses by 2015, according to new forecasts from Juniper Research in their report “Mobile Ticketing for Transport Markets”. This is more than five times the number generated last year but Juniper expects usage to spread widely from the current concentration in Japan and several European countries. Outside Japan, systems in operation typically use SMS or bar codes.
