DAIMLER ANNOUNCES ORDERS FOR 1,052 ORION VII NEXT GENERATION DIESEL-ELECTRIC HYBRID BUSES
Daimler Buses North America has received orders totalling 1,052 Orion VII Next Generation diesel-electric hybrid transit buses from some of North America’s largest transit authorities. MTA New York City Transit has ordered 850 and the City of Ottawa (OC Transpo) 202 Orion VII Next Generation diesel-electric hybrid transit buses.
SCANIA ETHANOL BUSES TO BE TESTED IN BRAZIL
São Paulo, Brazil is one of several major cities where Scania’s ethanol-powered buses will now be tested in public transport. The first bus went into service in October. The bus will be operated by the transport company Empresa Metropolitana de Transportes Urbanos de São Paulo (EMTU/SP), and the trial will be co-ordinated by biofuel experts at the Brazilian Reference Centre on Biomass (Cenbio), which is linked to the University of São Paulo.

Motorcoaches are the most fuel-efficient mode of U.S. transportation when compared to all others by measuring passenger miles per gallon, according to a new study authored by MJ Bradley and Associates and released recently by the American Bus Association.
