The Adelaide City Council has raised the standard in International sustainability with the introduction of the world’s first solar-powered electric bus. It’s the first electric solar bus which is recharged using 100% solar energy. It offers a free everyday service for the people of Adelaide through the Council’s Adelaide Connector Bus service.

ALEXANDER DENNIS DOUBLEDECKERS ON TEST IN SAN FRANCISCO

From Wednesday, December 12, 2007 to Monday, January 8, 2008, a double-decker bus ran on trial in San Francisco. Customers boarded the distinctive double deck bus for a ride free-of-charge and provide feedback to the SFMTA about the bus. Six-days-a-week, from morning to night, the statuesque vehicle moved from route to route to allow SFMTA planners and operators the opportunity to see how well the bus performs.

CNG DEVELOPMENTS IN CHINA

China Natural Gas, Inc. a provider of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicular fuel in Xi'an, China, has acquired two new CNG filling stations in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province and one compressor station in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, which has the daily processing capacity of 100,000 to 150,000 cubic meters of CNG.

ASHOK LEYLAND DEVELOPS CNG ENGINE

Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland (ALL) has developed the country’s first 1-litre-per-cylinder, 6-cylinder CNG engine for buses, employing multi-point fuel injection (MPFI).

NOVA BUS SECURES ORDER FOR 141 HYBRID BUSES TO VANCOUVER

Nova Bus, a subsidiary of Volvo Bus Corporation, has received an order for 141 hybrid buses to TransLink in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The contract includes an option for an additional 110 buses.
