SCANIA HIGER A80 PASSED THE EUROPEAN ROLLOVER TEST STANDARD

On July 1st 2008 a Scania Higer A80 bus underwent the ECE R66-01 Bus Upper Framework Strength norm as published by UN European Economy Committee, and now also adopted by the Chinese government. It was carried out on the 12-meter Scania Higer A80 luxury bus in the China Quality Supervision and Testing Center for Buses, in Chongqing; the bus whitstood this tilt test successfully. Higer is the first Chinese bus manufacturer who succeeded in withstanding this test after the new standard came into force.

TRW REVEALS ADVANCED AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEMS

TRW Automotive Holdings has announced the development of its latest intelligent safety system - Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). The system can potentially mitigate the severity of accidents and therefore help reduce the dangers to drivers and passengers. "AEB combines advanced driver assist systems and premium electronic stability control to rapidly decelerate the vehicle with or without driver intervention if a crash is determined to be inevitable," said Josef Pickenhahn, vice president of braking engineering for TRW.

Iteris, Inc announced the introduction of its first-to-market Safety Direct system for the heavy vehicle market. The Iteris Safety Direct system analyzes real-time lane departure warning (LDW) data captured by Iteris’ LDW system and can relay this information directly to fleet operators through integration with the vehicle’s existing fleet communications system.
