CNHTC TO REOPEN ITS BUS BRANCH

China National Heavy Truck Corporation, als known as Sinotruck, has decided to restart its bus activities according to reports in Chinese media. In the past the company produced among others citybuses.
YUTONG BUS PLANS NEW ASSEMBLY LINES AND GETS EUROPEAN WVTA

Yutong Bus, the biggest Chinese bus builder which last year produced 28,625 small, medium and large buses and coaches, is going to install a new bus assembly line with a capacity of for 20,000 units, increasing the capacity with about 70% to a total annual output of 50,000 units. The company has meanwhile bought another 140 hectares of land to establish the new assembly line project, which has been approved by the Board.
WRIGHTBUS POSSIBLY GETS ORDER FOR NEW LONDON DOUBLEDECKER

Transport for London (TfL) has selected Wrightbus as the preferred manufacturer for the final design and build of the New Bus for London (NB4L), based on the iconic Routemaster. It is to build a prototype of the diesel-electric hybrid, and deliver five pre-production vehicles for on-the-road trials in 2011. The NB4L will have an open platform (to be closed off at certain times, such as at night) allowing reinstatement of a hop-on hop-off bus service; three doors (including the rear platform); two staircases and capacity for “at least” 87 passengers.
VOLVO-EICHER BUSES TO HIT INDIAN ROADS IN 2010

The joint venture between heavy vehicle manufacturers Volvo and Eicher Motors will begin production of buses in the second half of 2010. "Production will start in the second half of the next year," said Eicher managing director and chief executive Siddhartha Lal in New Delhi recently.
ASHOK LEYLAND AND TATA INCREASE BUS PRODUCTION

To avoid delays in supplying low-floor buses to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland have speeded up the production of these buses. DTC, which has placed an order for around 2,500 low-floor buses (including some airco buses as well) that will be used during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, is said to have asked Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland to make sure that the buses are supplied on time.
