San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has launched what's believed to be the first commercial bus with a CNG and electric hybrid drive system. The new technology was made possible by grants from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), San Diego Air Pollution Control District (APCD), and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Enova Systems has entered into a Long Term Supply Agreement with IC Bus, a wholly owned affiliate of Navistar, Inc. and the nation’s largest school bus manufacturer, that guarantees that Enova’s proprietary Post Transmission Parallel Hybrid Electric drive system will be used in IC Bus’ hybrid school buses.

FLORIDA AIRPORT TRIALS HYDROGEN-POWERED BUSES

Orlando International Airport is currently testing four hydrogen-powered Ford shuttle busses, in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint. The busses are equipped with internal combustion engines which are powered by hydrogen gas instead of conventional fuel, according to a report from CNN.
