HYNOVIS PROTOTYPE HYBRID HYDRAULIC BUS FROM IRISBUS

Irisbus recently launched the Hynovis concept vehicle fitted with a hydraulic hybrid driveline, which has a lower unladen weight than a comparable diesel-electric hybrid bus. Hynovis uses a 5.9-litre six cylinder Tector unit mounted at the rear, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 30% and NOx emissions by 50%.

TRW REVEALS ADVANCED AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEMS

TRW Automotive Holdings has announced the development of its latest intelligent safety system - Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). The system can potentially mitigate the severity of accidents and therefore help reduce the dangers to drivers and passengers. "AEB combines advanced driver assist systems and premium electronic stability control to rapidly decelerate the vehicle with or without driver intervention if a crash is determined to be inevitable," said Josef Pickenhahn, vice president of braking engineering for TRW.

BOSCH DEVELOPS DUAL-FUEL EQUIPMENT FOR TRUCKS AND BUSES

Auto parts giant Robert Bosch is planning a serious entrance into the market for dual-fuel equipment for trucks and buses, she launched recently such a system on the Brazil market. After a low-key two year development period, using technology originally developed by DieselGas in New Zealand, Bosch has released an aftermarket conversion kit here promising diesel substitution rates of up to 90%.

VAN HOOL RECEIVES ORDER FOR EIGHT FUEL CELL BUSES

Van Hool has received a new order for 8 new generation fuel cell buses from AC Transit with an option for another 4 units. Previously in the period 2005/2006 the company has delivered 5 fuel cell bus gliders to the U.S. of which 3 to AC Transit, California, 1 to Sunline, San Diego, California en 1 to CT Transit, Connecticut.

TRACTION TECHNOLOGY OPTS FOR ENOVA HYBRID DRIVE IN BUS PROJECT WITH SUPERCAPS

UK-based Traction Technology Plc. is using the Enova 120kW hybrid drive system in combination with a supercapacitor energy storage system in four series hybrid Optare Solo Buses contracted by Merseytravel. The award follows competitive trial evaluation by Merseytravel.
