BERLIN PUBLIC TRANSPORT WANTS MORE HYDROGEN BUSES.
From 2009 onwards the Berlin, Germany public transport company BVG wants to acquire 50 more buses powered by a hydrogen driveline, according to a recent report in the German paper “Die Welt”.
ELECTRIC VEHICLES AT CENTRE OF UK RENEWABLE ENERGY STRATEGY
The UK government has signaled a greater role for electric vehicles in its Renewable Energy Strategy Consultation announced late June 2008. The strategy picks up on the recommendations of the King Review, which calls for the electrification of the vehicle fleet to achieve low carbon transport by 2050.
VOLVO ORDER FOR TELEMATICS SYSTEM FOR 1,400 BUSES IN BRAZIL

Volvo Buses has secured its largest order to date for the ITS4mobility telematics system. The system is to be installed on 1,400 buses in the city of Goiânia in Brazil and will enhance the efficiency of bus operations.
GERMANS WANT TO STIMULATE THE USE OF HYBRID BUSES IN THE LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The German minister of the Environment Sigmar Gabriel recently launched the project "Hybrid Buses for an environmentally friendly public transport", as part of an initiative by the ministry to protect the climate by using modern hybrid buses with state-of-the-art technology in the public domain.
UNVI DELIVERS OPEN-TOP DOUBLEDECKER TO FRANCE
Spanish body manufacturer Unvi delivered their first new Urbis 2.5DD sightseeing open top doubledecker to the French company Podiocom. The 12m bus built on a Volvo B9TL chassis will begin its career in July by following the Tour de France.
