MERITOR WABCO INTRODUCES ONGUARD COLLISION SAFETY SYSTEM WITH ACTIVE BRAKING
Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems recently introduced OnGuard, a new technology designed to further improve vehicle safety. OnGuard is currently installed on nearly 200 vehicles and is targeted for third quarter 2008-availability as a factory-installed option at several OEM brands, including bus manufacturers. It is the North American adaptation of the WABCO Adaptive Cruise Control system for the European and Asian market.
MORE ZF BUS PARTS OFF TO CHINA
ZF will equip Dongfeng, Kinglong, Huanghai and Yutong buses in Beijing with low-floor axles, steering systems and transmissions, for use during the 2008 Olympic Games. ZF Friedrichshafen has received an order to provide axles and steering systems for 1,300 low-floor buses, belonging to the Beijing Public Transport Corporation (BPTC), as part of the city's implementation of the 'Bus Rapid Transit' (BRT) traffic concept.

Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland (ALL) has developed the country’s first 1-litre-per-cylinder, 6-cylinder CNG engine for buses, employing multi-point fuel injection (MPFI).
CHINA YUCHAI INTERNATIONAL INTRODUCES EURO 5 AND HYBRID ENGINE
China Yuchai International Limited, manufacturer and distributor of diesel engines in China, announced its latest R&D innovation -- a hybrid ISG engine specifically designed for urban transportation buses, and exhibited it recently at the recent 4th China-ASEAN Expo.

Ford has recently expanded its Transit van range with a number of new developments. The changes include a new 4.6 tonne model, which is also available as a chassis for buses, and a new, five cylinder and 3.2 litre, 200hp diesel engine.
