FIRST CHINESE FUEL CELL BUS PRESENTED AT BUSWORLD ASIA 2008

At the Sunlong stand during the recently held Busworld Asia exhibition Sunlonmg and its partner Shanghai Shen-Li High Tech Co showed the first Chinese fuel-cell bus, prepared for operation in Beijing.  

TEMSA TO LAUNCH CITYBUS AND INTERCITY BUS

Temsa, the Turkish bus and coach manufacturer, has plans to unveil a new citybus and an intercity bus during this year. The citybus will probably be shown during the coming Busworld Istanbul exhibition, scheduled for 24 till 26 April 2008. The intercity bus will be launched during the coming Hannover IAA exhibition.

VW TAKES CONTROL OF SCANIA

Volkswagen has taken control of Scania, buying both Investor and Wallenberg Foundation stakes in the company. The move paves the way for an alliance with MAN. Volkswagen acquired the stakes, representing 30.62% of Scania's voting rights, for SKR200 a share, a total of SKR17.6bn ($US2.86bn). VW now has 68.6% of the voting rights, and 37.73% of the capital.

REXHALL STARTS IMPORTING FAW BUSBODIES

Rexhall Industries, Inc.,  a more than 20 year old RV manufacturing company in Lancaster, California, has broadened to the marketing of coaches, using bodies built by the Chinese manufacturer FAW.

WABCO OPENS FIRST WHOLLY-OWNED CHINESE MANUFACTURING FACILITY

The Brussels-based truck and bus braking, chassis and emissions control specialist WABCO Holdings Inc. has formally opened its first fully-owned, $35m manufacturing facility in Qingdao, China. It currently employs 240 people in the production of ABS, compressors and other braking devices for the domestic Chinese and global markets.
