LATEST NEW YORK CITY BUSES WITH HYBRID PROPULSION COST LESS TO OWN AND OPERATE
A recent American government report says New York City’s newer hybrid-powered buses cost 40 percent less to maintain and 24 percent less to operate than earlier-generation hybrids. Those buses, the second-generation Orion VII from Daimler Buses North America, are powered by BAE Systems’ HybriDrive® diesel-electric propulsion system.
NOVA BUS SECURES ORDER FOR 141 HYBRID BUSES TO VANCOUVER
Nova Bus, a subsidiary of Volvo Bus Corporation (NASDAQ:VOLV) (STO:VOLVA) (STO:VOLVB), has received an order for 141 hybrid buses to TransLink in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The contract includes an option for an additional 110 buses.

After the third Solaris hybrid bus in Germany entered service in the Ruhr area with Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG on 4 January, the “dachshund with two hearts” – the two hearts symbolise the combination of diesel and electric engines – will find a home in three further German cities in the course of 2008, where it will help to reduce the strain on the environment.

It’s the first electric solar bus which is recharged using 100% solar energy. It offers a free everyday service for the people of Adelaide through the Council’s Adelaide Connector Bus service.
ALEXANDER DENNIS DOUBLEDECKERS ON TEST IN SAN FRANCISCO
From Wednesday, December 12, 2007 to Monday, January 8, 2008, a double-decker bus ran on trial in San Francisco. Customers boarded the distinctive double deck bus for a ride free-of-charge and provide feedback to the SFMTA about the bus. Six-days-a-week, from morning to night, the statuesque vehicle moved from route to route to allow SFMTA planners and operators the opportunity to see how well the bus performs.
