THERMO KING ADDS HYBRID HVAC TO ATHENIA RANGE

Following on from the highly successful launch of the global rooftop HVAC system, Athenia, in 2004 Thermo King has added two new products to the range - Athenia D and Athenia E 800. The Athenia product range features an excellent capacity/weight ratio and has one of the lowest-weight units in the market, according to the manufacturer.

EMITEC SCRI SYSTEM READY FOR EURO 6

Emitec has developed an integrated particulate matter (PM) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, SCRi, for light- and heavy-duty diesel applications. The SCRi combines Emitec’s partial flow filter, PM-METALIT and a new highly effective turbulent SCR catalyst into one cost-effective and maintenance-free system, that It is the first continuously operating system that reduces both particulate matter and nitrogen oxides (NOx) simultaneously, to Euro 6 levels.

WABCO PRODUCES ROBOTIZED COMPONENTS FOR ZF GEARBOXES

Wabco announced the extension of a long-term agreement to supply ZF with transmission automation systems for their “AS Tronic” and “AS Tronic lite” automatic transmissions, also mounted on coaches. Wabco’s extended contract with ZF, one of the world’s leading automotive industry suppliers specializing in driveline and chassis technologies, is worth several hundred million U.S. dollars in cumulative sales into the next decade.

NEW TYPE OF ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION FOR HYBRID BUSES

Sheffield University spin-out Magnomatics, which develops novel high-torque magnetic gearboxes, motors and generators, is leading a consortium to produce high torque density electric drives which could among others be applied in hybrid buses. The company says its technology is also suitable for applications such as wind turbines, hybrid cars, aircraft and domestic equipment, and is being applied in the UK-government-backed Low Carbon Vehicles Integrated Delivery Programme.
