TFL TRIALS AGAIN LIVE CLOSED-CIRCUIT TV ON LONDON BUSES
Transport for London has begun a six-month trial of live CCTV on a north London bus route. Twenty one Arriva double-decker buses have been fitted with technology that will allow pictures to be beamed live to the Centrecomm control centre shared by officers from Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police’s Transport Operational Command Unit.

Arriva Scandinavia and NZR have announced the roll out of free broadband internet access services to customers on the Arriva Denmark bus fleet. Twenty three buses have already been equipped with the Multimesh mobile broadband gateway developed by Meshhopper Wireless (member of UK based Something Group).

Skymeter will be Cisco's technical solution partner for Location, Time, and Distance-based road user charging in the "Connected Urban Development" project. Cisco made the announcement rcently at the Clinton Global Initiative conference "Connectivity for Sustainability". This is a major development in the application of GPS technology to road user charging and the operation of public transport.
GREY ISLAND'S NEXTBUS PREDICTS ARRIVAL TIME ON CELLPHONE
Grey Island Systems International, Inc. will deliver her NextBus software system to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) . The TTC operates the third most heavily used transit system in the USA and Canada serving over 450 million customers annually in the Greater Toronto Area. The TTC provides this service to the City of Toronto with an extensive network of subways, streetcar lines, bus routes, and a specialized service, Wheel-Trans, for people with disabilities.
CITY BUSES AS DATA COLLECTORS
City buses equipped with mobile sensing platforms could send out live information that can be used to control traffic and detect road hazards. This idea is part of the MORYNE project, an EU-funded €3.8m (£3m) study that aims to make European roads safer and less congested. A total of 11 companies and organisations from Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary and Spain collaborated on the project led by EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
