ALEXANDER DENNIS DOUBLEDECKERS ON TEST IN SAN FRANCISCO

From Wednesday, December 12, 2007 to Monday, January 8, 2008, a double-decker bus ran on trial in San Francisco. Customers boarded the distinctive double deck bus for a ride free-of-charge and provide feedback to the SFMTA about the bus. Six-days-a-week, from morning to night, the statuesque vehicle moved from route to route to allow SFMTA planners and operators the opportunity to see how well the bus performs.

DAIMLER BUSES: 2007 SALES SURPASS 2006

Worldwide sales by Daimler Buses in 2007 totalled 39,000 units from the Mercedes-Benz, Setra, and Orion brands, which corresponds to an eight-percent increase from the high sales figure recorded in the prior year. Bus chassis increased its sales by 9.5% to 26,600 (2006: 24,300) units, while complete buses business achieved a sales increase of 4% to 12,400 (2006: 11,900) units.

With an operating profit of €1,730 million (up from €1,105 million), a return on sales of 11.2 percent (up from 8.5 percent), an order intake up 17 percent, sales up 19 percent and for the first time over 100,000 vehicles shipped out, 2007 was a record year for the MAN Group in it’s 250 years of existence. For 2008, a further rise in sales and operating profit is budgeted.

NOVA BUS SECURES ORDER FOR 141 HYBRID BUSES TO VANCOUVER

Nova Bus, a subsidiary of Volvo Bus Corporation, has received an order for 141 hybrid buses to TransLink in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The contract includes an option for an additional 110 buses.
